Week one of the 16 week program leading up to Rev3 Olympic the first week of June is in the books. Not a perfect start, but got most scheduled workouts in. I’ve decided that snowboarding will replace any workout. It’s a long season and I see no reason to miss out on something I really enjoy for the sake of a few workouts.
Snowboarding Report
Sundown:
Another holiday weekend, so decided to stay local. It worked out great with warmer temperatures and light crowds. Sundown is a smaller (650 vertical) hill that is only about 15 miles from Hartford. Started the day with a few runs thru the large terrain park. Some of the features are too big for me, but I caught some air off the ramps before the park got busy with riders who know what they’re doing.
From there headed over to the beginner hill where they have a small terrain park with a small table top, a rail, a roller and a cannon. Great place to practice some technical skills. I also worked quite a bit on riding switch, since they also have a nice flat beginner trail. Was able to actually get on my switch toe-side for the first time and link some turns.

Wrapped up the day with some runs of the summit. Great snow conditions on all the trails, and the warmer temperatures really soften things up nicely.

Wachusett:
Sunday night headed up to Wachusett to meet up with my brother for some night riding. The Sunday night at the end of the school vacation week ended up being not very crowded and they even ended up taking down the lift corrals halfway thru the night.
Some pics from the Summit before it got dark. TJ on the left, me on the right.

TJ took over the camera and hooked me up with some nice action shots. Wachusett grooms every trail between the day and night sessions. We took advantage by absolutely blasting down the trails at mach speed. Here I am ripping down.
Also, put my switch riding practice to use and then we made our way to the mini terrain park.
They had a small jump and a couple of small boxes. It’s a little tough to see with the darkness closing in, but here are some action shots:
Was a great night out, and really enjoyed carving up the mountain with my brother. I’m hoping we can get in at least one more night together before the end of the season.
